Patient electronic access to transcribed reports is encouraged, however, physicians and clinicians will need to provide the access. Read below for more information.
Patients can access their results when their health care pracitioner specifically copies them via
Health Gateway, which is a provincial patient portal available to anyone 12 years and older. For more information see
Health Gateway.
Patients who are seen at the PHSA sites of BC Cancer, BC Children & Women’s, and Sunny Hill Health Centre are also able to access their results via MyCareCompass (formerly known as my eHealth) for the foreseeable future.
Patients only receive a copy when the dictating health care practitioner has specifically dictated, "copy patient" or added a patient copy at the time of a front-end speech created document, and patient copies will go to the MyCareCompass or Health Gateway web portals only after they are electronically signed.
Patient copies will not by mailed by HIM (Health Information Management) Records Management, unless specifically requested through Release of Information (ROI).
Patient copies at all sites are available through the ROI process (link) via your site's
Health Records department.
